The Common Driver Team recently had the rare opportunity to review not one, but three hot 30th Anniversary Edition Trans Ams in Kansas City. This is rare because of the fact that Pontiac built only 1000 copies of this coupe for the 1999 model year. That said, you can imagine how awesome it was to have three fine examples together in one spot.
Pontiac gave the 30th Anniversary Trams Am a few special features to set it apart from the standard T/A. The most noticeable is the paint scheme. White is the primary color with two bright blue racing stripes and the good old fire-chicken at the front of each one. The wheels are the same in design as the standard T/A but with a shiny blue clear-coat tint. Small 30th Anniversary badges on the doors complete the exterior enhancements.

The interior contains the standard dark gray dash, and Anniversary-only white leather inserts are on the doors. Front and rear seats get the white leather treatment too, with the 30th logo finding itself on the headrest, floor mats and on the console next to the 6-speed shifter. There is also a white mat with the special logo located behind the rear seats.
If you were hoping for some extra power in this special bird, you might be a little disappointed. The standard LS1 is all you get. Though, all 30th Anniversary Edition T/As are equipped with the WS-6 Ram-Air package making 320 horsepower and 335 lb-ft of torque. Those are some impressive numbers, but you would think that Pontiac would want to give a little more juice to the Anniversary Edition of its performance icon.

The lucky owners of these three 30th Anniversary T/A's are Scott Carlson, Austin Hayward and Brian & Diane Watts. Scott and Austin have a few modifications on their T/As. Scott has installed a Hurst Billet Plus Shifter, Nitto 555 tires, K&N Air Filter and a Direct Flow air box lid. Austin has also installed a K&N Air Filter and a Flowmaster Exhaust system. Brian & Diane have chosen to keep their Anniversary T/A in stock trim. They also own the black '98 T/A seen in a few of these pictures.

The 30th Anniversary Trans Am definitely makes a bold statement, and it offers its owners a large amount of exclusivity. The car will go down in history as a rare classic enjoyed by a fortunate few.
